Joe Fleming

For the last 10 years, I have been a French Intermediate teacher and Treasurer for the Centre. Prior to that, I was employed by French Bank Sydney (Now BNP Paribas) from 1947 – 1988, and I was even sent by ship to France for 1 year between 1954 – 1955 to improve my French.

The best thing about what I do is seeing my French class members doing their best to cope with grammar and pronunciation.

On a Sunday Morning, you can typically find me walking one lap of Centennial Park and then having coffee with my two older brothers.

Other involvements that I have include being a Treasurer for the Army Association since 1989, reviewing financials for the Eastern Suburbs National Service Association and the Cape Banks Family History Society. I am also a committee member of the Coogee-Randwick-Clovelly RSL Sub-Branch, and handle bank deposits for Pagewood Church.

Of all the people I most admire, I’d love to have a coffee with any one of the recent Victoria Cross recipients.

The thing that I’d like to do most in the future, is to be around to see my 9 great grandchildren grow up.
